Deputy Regent of Sukabumi H. Iyos Somantri received a Working Visit from the National Geopark Management Agency of Ranah Minang Silokek, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra, at the Palabuhanratu Hall. Wednesday (13/4/22).

Sijunjung Regent Benny Dwifa Yuswir said the working visit to Palabuhanratu was aimed at building cooperation for the preparation of Silokek Sijunjung Geopak towards UNESCO Global Geopark. "Today we have come complete with the ranks and stakeholders to build the commitment of Sijunjung Regency with Sukabumi Regency. Maybe this is West Sumatra for the first time who wants to learn a lot from Ciletuh Palabuhanratu, regarding how to prepare for the UNESCO Global Geopark," he explained.

According to him, getting to the UNESCO Global Geopark is not easy, so there needs to be seriousness in finalizing preparations. Therefore, his party learned from Sukabumi Regency which had been successfully designated as UGGCPp. "Of course in terms of administration and readiness here, what has been done by Sukabumi Regency so that it can go to the Global Geopark," he said.

The Regent of Sijunjung hopes that his visit to Ciletuh Palabuhanratu can be a strength for BP Geopark Silokek and gain valuable experience that the Province of West Sumatra can bring.

Deputy Regent of Sukabumi H. Iyos Somantri said the collaboration between Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu and Geopark Silokek was a strategic and visionary collaboration regarding the empowerment and future of geoparks. "We hope that our partner Geopark Silokek can soon become a UNESCO Global Geopark and in the future we will become a cooperation partner between Geopark to Geopark," he said.

At the end of the activity, there was a signing of the Silokek Management Agency on Geopark Development and Development as well as the Handover of Souvenirs from the Sukabumi Regency Government to the Sijunjung Regent..
